Internet Devices

We have reopened our application form for devices and data. Please be aware that we are still experiencing a heavy demand, and we are working through a backlog of applications so it may take a while for your application to be processed, especially if you need a donated device. We will usually be able to respond quicker for requests for data or an internet connection (data plus hotspot) only.


During the current COVID-19 Pandemic, we are pleased to be able to provide free internet devices and data for people and organisations in need if they meet simple qualifying criteria.  We currently have grant funding to help people living in Cambridge City and South Cambridgeshire with devices and data.  We may also be able to help people in other areas of Cambridgeshire with donated devices, and we can help with digital skills training wherever people live.

Our work is funded by Cambridge City Council, Cambridge City Homes, South Cambridgeshire District Council as well as donations from individuals, businesses and trusts.  We have laptops, tablets, 4G SIM cards, and Mobile Wi-Fi devices available.  Equipment is a mixture of new, refurbished and donated/reset.  Most equipment is given out permanently, while some is provided on loan. 

Families and individuals can apply to us directly, or we can accept agency referrals.  We have a short form which will help us to see which scheme would suit your situation. You can apply for a device here (please do not email us to apply for a device).

Examples where we can help:
A single mum living in South Cambridgeshire who is out of work has an internet connection, but needs a laptop for her 11 year old son to use to access online learning at a village college.
A shielding older person living in council housing in Cambridge with no internet access needs a laptop and mobile 4G Wi-Fi internet connection to keep in touch with friends and relatives.
A young adult needs a computer tablet with 4G SIM card to keep in touch with mental health support services.

There is no deadline for applications.  We aim to give a decision within a week, with equipment delivery within two weeks.
