How you can help people gain Basic Online Skills
Supporting people to send and receive email, use a search engine, browse the web and complete online forms, safely and securely; enthusing people about using the internet and showing sites or services that meet their needs.
We need volunteers who are passionate about the internet to help at sessions for people without Basic Online Skills; we’ll show you top tips and give you full training and support to get you started.
Where do I do this?
With local educational charity Cambridge Online at the small and informal sessions we run in different locations in and around Cambridge.
What attributes are important for this role?
You’ll be supporting people to gain the four Basic Online Skills that are vital for enjoying the web’s huge and varied benefits. People who aren’t online can be nervous and/or overwhelmed, so it’s important you’re:
- Good at explaining instructions (sometimes a number of times)
- Passionate about helping people open opportunities online
- Able to multi-task to support small groups of people
