South Cambridgeshire District Council has awarded Cambridge Online a £5,000 grant to help digitally excluded children to get online. Full details of the Press Release announcing the grant can be seen here.
The aim of the scheme which opened on 21 December 2020 is to provide computer devices and internet connections to allow families with children online access for education, to access services or for social interaction. Applicants must be digitally excluded families with a child 18 or under in March 2020 living in South Cambridgeshire. The scheme is funded through the Government’s Winter Support Grant to provide essential services.
We want each family to receive the specific help they need, so we have a range of options available in order to help as many people as possible. Available equipment includes computer tablets, computer laptops and 4G internet connections. These are available in combination to help each situation. There are no cash grants available under this scheme – the help given is in the form of equipment provided to each family. All recipients will also have access to the Cambridge Online training package and digital skills help line via phone and email.
Applicants (or the people referring them) are required to complete a short form via email or phone in order to be considered for the scheme. To apply or ask questions please email email@example.com or phone 01223 300407.
